Thoughts on Home-Study Online Computer Training For CompTIA A Plus

The CompTIA A+ training program covers two modules of training; you're considered an A+ achiever when you've passed the test for both of them. Qualifying in CompTIA A+ without additional courses will allow you to fix and maintain stand alone Macs, computers and laptops; ones that are generally not connected to a network - which means the home or small business market. You might also choose to consider doing Network+ as you'll then be in a position to become a networking engineer, which means greater employment benefits.

Ignore the typical salesman that offers any particular course without performing a 'fact-find' to gain understanding of your current abilities plus your experience level. Always check they have access to a wide-enough array of training so they can give you a program that suits you.. With a strong background, or sometimes a little live experience (some industry qualifications maybe?) then it could be that the level you'll need to start at will be quite dissimilar from a trainee who has no experience. If this is your opening crack at IT study then you may want to cut your teeth on a user-skills course first.

All programs you're considering must provide a nationally (or globally) recognised qualification as an end-result - and not some unimportant 'in-house' plaque for your wall. To an employer, only the major heavyweights like Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA or Adobe (for instance) will make the right impression. Nothing else hits the mark.
